Legendary singer-songwriter, Terry Carisse began his career performing and singing in local Ottawa bands, eventually coming to wider notice as a singer-songwriter after collaborating with lyricist Bruce Rawlins.

\n<\/p>\n

His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as The Mercey Brothers’ (\u2018Hello Mom\u2019, \u2018Who Wrote the Words\u2019, and \u2018Kentucky Turn Your Back\u2019), Carroll Baker, Marie Bottrell, Ralph Carlson, Patrick Norman, Nashville stars, Bill Anderson, Charlie Louvin, and international acts from Sweden and Australia.

\n<\/p>\n

His first recognition at the national level came as a member of Carroll Baker’s back-up band, Carisse made the jump to a solo career in the 1980s and quickly became one of Canada’s most successful country artists. He won three Big Country Awards for \u2018Male Vocalist\u2019, one for \u2018Single of the Year\u2019 and two for \u2018Album of the Year\u2019. He also took home a total seven CCMA Awards, including four for \u2018Male Vocalist of the Year\u2019. With his group, Tracks, with whom he toured throughout Canada, he took home a CCMA Award for \u2018Best Backing Band\u2019, after touring with acts including Loretta Lynn, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette.

Carisse\u2019s hits include, \u2018Time To Go\u2019, \u2018Sparkle In Her Eyes\u2019, \u2018All Her Letters\u2019, \u2018We Could Make Beautiful Music Together\u2019, \u2018Sweet Blue\u2019, \u2018Love Sweet Love\u2019, \u2018Start of Something New\u2019 (duet with Tracey Brown), \u2018None of the Feeling Is Gone\u2019 (duet with Michelle Wright) and many others. His 1982 country\/gospel album, \u2018Terry Carisse & Friends \u2013 A Gospel Gathering\u2019, featuring duet performances with Carroll Baker, Dallas Harms, Larry Mercey, Johnny Burke, Family Brown and others.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Carisse has been honoured with songwriting awards from BMI, PROCAN, SOCAN and the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA).
