Fred King began his broadcast career in Saskatchewan and quickly took country music from coast to coast. By 1959, he was hosting programs in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. With his group King Kountry, he travelled Canada with some of the top acts in the business.

As ‘King of Country Music’, King hosted hundreds of dances, cruises, beach events and fan trips to Nashville. He took pride in making CKRM in Regina his passion, as well as one of the most listened to Country radio stations in Saskatchewan.

Fred is the father of Scott King Jr., a recording artists on the Canadian scene during the early 90’s.

His accolades include Broadcaster of the Year in Canada, CCMA On-Air Personality of the Year – Secondary Market and a Prairie Country Music Association Heritage Award. He also served as president of the CCMA (1983-84).
